Amsterdams Casino uit de lucht gehaald

Politie en justitie hebben vandaag op grote schaal invallen gedaan bij een aantal bedrijven in Eindhoven. Daarbij zijn zeven goksites buiten gebruik gesteld, waaronder het bekende Amsterdams Casino. Justitie liet weten dat er vandaag naast zo’n 150 man politie ook tientallen officieren van justie en twee rechters-commissarissen werden ingezet.

Uit het onderzoek, dat wordt uitgevoerd in samenwerking met de Kansspelautoriteit, is naar voren gekomen dat de verdachten zich bezig hielden met het aanbieden van online kansspelen.

De hoofdverdachte is de 32-jarige Michel Gregoire uit Geldrop. Justitie verdenkt hem ervan geld dat verdiend werd met de handel in soft drugs te hebben geïnvesteerd in de illegale gokactiviteiten.

Onder de naam Net Gaming Solutions werd een gokbedrijf geëxploiteerd dat naar hun eigen zeggen gevestigd was in Costa Rica als North Dakota Enterprises SA. Het feit dat de Nederlandse Kansspelautoriteit de goksites vandaag op zwart wist te zetten lijkt er echter op te wijzen dat de servers in werkelijkheid dichter bij huis stonden.

The police and the judiciary today carried out large-scale raids on a number of companies in Eindhoven. Seven gambling sites were decommissioned, including the well-known Amsterdam Casino. The Ministry of Justice announced that in addition to around 150 police officers, dozens of public prosecutors and two examining magistrates were deployed today.

The investigation, which is being conducted in collaboration with the Gaming Authority, has revealed that the suspects were involved in offering online games of chance.

The main suspect is 32-year-old Michel Gregoire from Geldrop. Justice suspects him of having invested money earned from the soft drug trade in illegal gambling activities.

Under the name Net Gaming Solutions, a gambling company was operated that they said was based in Costa Rica as North Dakota Enterprises SA. However, the fact that the Dutch Gaming Authority managed to black out the gambling sites today seems to indicate that the servers were in reality closer to home.
