Egypt was the first government entity to shut down cell phone service in the hopes to quell protests; followed by other Arabic/Islamic countries for the same reasons; they claim.
Now, Bart (a pseudo government entity for public transportation in San Francisco) has shut down cell service for a few hours on Thursday around several stations.
Officials claim they sought to tactically thwart a planned protest over the recent fatal shooting of a 45-year-old man by transit police; this being one of several shootings by Bart cops over the past few years.
Some say it was necessary, some say it was illegal, others say it also caused safety issues.
I say, governments and their offspring are taking too many liberties with our rights and as long as we remain silent, they will continue to do so.
Yes, it does not state in the Constitution the right of cell phone service but it also does not state our method of conveying our right to Free Speech.
How do you feel about this?
Egito, Jordânia, Síria, Bahrein e agora São Francisco
